Children have the right to survive against all odds of life for their all round development and be protected to participate in decisions that impact their lives. All children are born with fundamental freedoms and all human beings have some inherent rights. Children are facing various issues like child labour, malnutrition, poverty, education and illiteracy, child trafficking, girl child and marriage, gender inequality. Rural or urban areas has a complex family scenario, kids are sometimes witness to domestic violence . In developing countries with high poverty and poor schooling opportunities, child labour is still prevalent. Child labour refers to the employment of the children in any work due to poverty, that deprives them of their childhood. In case of girl child , they are considered to be useful as helpers in the home. Poorer families prefers to send their boys to school rather than the girls as the latter they are needed to look after their siblings or to help in the house work. Many a times social factors like early marriage or social restrictions on the movement of girls also lead to dropping out from school. It directly interferes with their ability to communicate or express themselves, to participate, over all development and most importantly their right to live their life with equality and integrity and it is mentally, physically and morally harmful for them as well as for the society they live in. In the developing countries individuals experiencing poverty do not have the means to pay for basic needs of daily life like food, clothes and shelter. The direct consequences stemming from this problem are hunger, malnutrition, infectious diseases, complications of childbirth and susceptibility to diseases which have been identified as major problems across the world. General and specific health awareness camps with focus on diseases like Dengue and Chikengunya, Eye, Ear, Dental problems are being organised time to time. Health-weeks and Health-camps are also generally organised in the interior for different age groups. Efforts towards the prevention includes: . Identifying the root causes of the problem. . Addressing these underlying problems by interacting with the victim and others collectively where the importance of the rights and damaging effects of the situation are discussed. . Community orientation and sensitisation programs are being conducted on a regular basis. . Provide services comprising availability or opportunity of the pre-school non-formal education, supplementary nutrition, health check-up and referral service. . Provide them formal education that enables them to acquire the skills, knowledge, values and attitudes which is necessary to become responsible and active citizens of the country.
